What are you really (REALLY) doing to succeed online?
Written by Tim Gary on November 12, 2007 – 8:09 pm -Are you doing something that moves you a step closer to success, or are you reacting to your environment and habits?
If you are anything like I used to be, you’re doing way too much reacting, and way too little progress on your dreams, desires and goals.
Here’s a total geek (me) analogy from the computer world. One which you might find yourself pondering in the coming days and months.
Much like most of our lives, computers spend a very large amount of their time just idling. Not doing anything but checking for external input. Input from the mouse, keyboard, a distant website, etc… If you want to verify this, and you are on a Windows based computer, right-click your mouse on the bottom task bar, then click on “task manager”. Under “processes”, look for what is using the most CPU time. It will almost certainly be the “System Idle Process”!
The System Idle Process has one purpose, and that is essentially to do nothing but wait for something to happen. To wait for external stimuli, input, etc… It could be checking your email, your IM chat account, your websites, and last but not least, your input (mouse, keyboard, etc), at this very moment.
What is your equivalent of this process, and how is it keeping you a slave to the world around you, instead of the master and creator of your future? Do you do any of the following?
- endlessly surf the net looking for the thing that will magically bring you riches
- read forums, and follow anyone who appears to know something about this “internet business” thing
- buy every opportunity that comes your way, but before you can implement any of the newly acquired strategies, buy something else, and so on…
- let Instant Messaging services interrupt your productive activity
- watched the latest TV program, and then the one after that, and so forth.. just letting this external stimuli take over your whole evening..
- keet searching for the last few hidden secrets that will allow you to move forward in manifesting your desires..
- … or any of a million other external interruptions keeping you from progress
Think of it. Do you want to be a slave to the external stimuli in your life, much like your computer is? Or do you want to be a master of your own destiny, and create your life, the way you choose?
Do you want to be a creative, expanding, growing human being, or like a computer letting the external world rule your existence? It’s really that simple!
The choice, and success is up to you. Make the right one!
