Following the Crowd Can Lead to Wrong Decisions
Written by Tim Gary on October 27, 2007 – 3:21 pm -Have you ever been faced with a choice between what you suspect to be correct, and what everyone else is doing? We’re faced with this more often than we realize it.
Here’s a silly, easy example. When you go to the movies, and the film is done. Do you go out the same door you came in along with 99% of the people, or do you take the door labeled “exit” towards the front where the screen is? Of course this depends on the theater you are at, but at may of the ones I’ve been to the exit door takes you quickly to the parking lot, or street. Wouldn’t it be easier and better to go to the exit door instead of following the crowd?
Similar and more costly examples can be found in the stock market, where people follow everything from the investment analysts, to their next door neighbor. They do so without putting any of their own thought, knowledge or research into it. Little do they realize the analyst most likely is being influenced more by others in the industry than any “research”. Their next door neighbor might not even have the stock he’s talking about, but heard it from a reliable source, and there’s a “buzz” about it.
Similarly when each new Internet Marketing Product launch comes around, the focus is on creating the same sort of crowd/herd mentality to promote it. There’s invariably a large number of promoters who use marketing tactics designed specifically to make you buy into the idea that you’ll be left out in the cold, and never be part of the successful crowd unless you purchase this be-all end-all course.
To be clear, there’s nothing “wrong” with this form of marketing, after all, it works and some of the products may hold valuable information for those ready to apply it.
The point is, when presented with one of these offers, do you follow the crowd, or do you apply your own thinking to the decision process? Here’s an idea that might save you a ton of money over time: Is the offer for something that you can make use of right now, or is it something that you may end up putting on the shelf until you’re ready for it?
If you have been searching for this exact information, or tool, and it pops up, great!
Do some research, and if it appears to be something that you can make use of right now, consider getting it. But if you aren’t able to use it right now, there’s a very good chance some of the techniques in the course will become obsolete by the time you are ready for them.
To make things worse, a new product will come out to fill the gaps, and you’ll be left with some cd’s that are as valuable as the ones AOL used to send out to everyone.
This will all become more clear to you as you progress from the thinking into the DOING state. You’ll find my report Right Action Manifests a helpful starting point in making that transition if you haven’t done so already.
I’ll be talking about other resources which have helped me, both here and on my site www.successunstuck.com
I would welcome other thoughts on this concept. Simply leave your comments for everyone to benefit.

Information is NOT the problem!
Written by Tim Gary on October 25, 2007 – 7:51 pm -I’ve recently been reminded of how much information I’ve collected…
- Lots of Guru Information Marketing and Internet Business products from the past 3 years…
- Easily over 1000 books on business, marketing, personal development, and even the Flying Spagetti Monster!
- Hundreds of Nightingale Conant Personal Development CD/Tape courses…
- 50+ gigabytes of downloaded information products…
- …and many subscriptions to membership sites related to marketing, Internet Business, etc..
Note To Self: Hello! You have 50 gigabytes of downloaded information on every subject even remotely related to Internet Marketing, Online/Internet Business, and Personal Development. You have over 300 CD’s from Nightingale Conant, and another couple hundred from others. So many books, you don’t want to count them.
If that’s not enough to accomplish your goals, then the availability of information IS NOT THE PROBLEM!
I could go on, but I’d rather let that sink in for a bit.
The bottom line is that it’s not what you “KNOW”, but what you “DO” and how you do it, that really matters.
…more soon…

Right Action Manifests Online Success
Written by Tim Gary on October 23, 2007 – 10:36 pm -It’s time to get serious.
Was I not serious before? Yes, however my earlier posts were only useful as an introduction to what lurks in my mind. At the time, they might not have been all that useful.
I’ve been interested in Online Businessfor many years. Before the Internet was truly public in fact. Back when we had 300 baud modems (extremely slow by todays standards), and were happy not to be using an IBM printing terminal.
In High School, I used to dial up other people computers to post messages, and share programs with other computer advocates. We would set our own computers up to answer the phone, using a program called a BBS (Bulletin Board System) to handle message posting, and file transfer.
Being a programmer, I decided to write my own BBS, and do it in the computer programming language “C”. This was unique since all of the other bbs’s were writen in Basic. Very quickly, my BBS became popular locally, and I had others asking to use my code on their systems. Within a few months I was selling my program, and had licensed it to several companies (Echelon Inc, and The First Osborne Users Group, etc).
This was over 20 years ago!
It was one of the first online businesses in existence, andI was very proud of what I’d done at the time.
Since then, Ive continued to program, study marketing, and am an avid Internet researcher. But I’ve been missing the business and entrepreneurial buzz I used to get when others would use my software.
I bring this up as an introduction to me jumping *back* into an Online Business, first by helping others get past their distractions, challenges, lack of focus, and endless surfing. This will be followed by concrete information on building a the online business you desire, through references, reviews, products and services.
My introduction to this is a report called Right Action Manifests.
If you are having trouble getting focused, and you seem to be spinning your wheels at this Internet Business thing, then start getting yourself unstuck with this report.
I look forward to hearing about your success!
